Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Exam

What: Specialized testing for patients who have suffered a brain injury from accident, stroke, or other means. This testing can vary a great deal depending on the severity, symptoms, and the ability & mobility of the patient.

Who:   Anyone who has suffered a traumatic brain injury.

Testing includes:

  • Developmental Exam
  • Gross & fine motor screening (when indicated)
  • Perceptual Screening (when indicated)
  • Innate reflexes & balance (when indicated)

    Time: 1st visit ~ 60 minutes
    *Often requires more than 1 visit as multiple things are sometimes found requiring more specific testing or trials of various lenses or treatment options.
    Example- Some stroke victims have strabismus that needs more testing
                 - Some have perceptual/learning issues that require evaluation.

    Insurance:   Major medical will often help pay at least a portion.
